At Barn Patrol, Inc., our mission is simple: to improve the lives of community cats in Pasco and Hernando counties through humane, life-saving action.
Feral, stray, and community cats are particularly vulnerable in our society. Shelters and their dedicated staff do incredible work, despite being stretched thin and overwhelmed. However, there is a significant gap between what shelters can provide and the specific needs of stray and/or feral cats, such as controlling population, maintaining adequate health, and reducing nuisance behaviors to help both cats and communities coexist harmoniously.
What We Do
Humane Population Management
We partner with individuals, neighborhoods, businesses, and animal welfare organizations to carry out Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) — a proven, compassionate method that stabilizes community cat populations and improves their overall health.
Barn Cat Placements
We also save cats facing euthanasia in local shelters by placing them, in pairs, into safe, loving barn homes as working cats. Before placement, each cat receives a thorough health screening, spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, and microchipping — giving them a real second chance at life.
Why It Matters
Population control through TNVR reduces suffering, nuisance behavior, and the number of cats entering shelters. By stabilizing colonies where they already live and placing unsocial cats into appropriate barn homes, we help cats and communities coexist more harmoniously and humanely.
Our Vision
Our vision is a world where community cats are valued and cared for, and where communities play an active role in humane population control and long-term solutions.
Giving Scaredy Cats & Feral Cats a Second Chance at Life
County and municipal shelters frequently struggle with overcrowding, and sadly, cats labeled as “unadoptable due to behavior” often face the risk of euthanasia. At Barn Patrol, we believe every cat deserves a second chance. After undergoing thorough health screenings, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping, these cats are carefully placed in pairs into barn homes. There, they can enjoy a fresh start as working cats, living healthy and fulfilling lives.
